Scout Camp

last week george was able to go to scout camp. he had such a good time. i found out about it the day before, but filled out papers sunday night and took him monday morning. they had 1 t-shirt left. the camp was from monday thru thursday, 9am til 3:30. he brought something new home each day that he made. his favorite was a treasure chest, not pictured, he also made a cricket house, a gum ball machine and a marshmellow gun. i'm so glad he got to go. he made lots of new friends.

the camp was in someones backyard, basically. they own around 20 acres and allow them to have the camp there. it was fun to drive george everyday and drive by the house.

when you enter their property, thru a huge purple gate i might add, you see their barn. the biggest barn i've ever seen.

this is their drive way. i love the hanging flower baskets on every lamp post. (don't mind the crack in our windsheild)

and this is part of the house. there's more to it, but i didn't want to stop and look like a rubber necker who's never seen a big house before. but it was so beautiful i couldn't not take pictures of it. and i wanted to share it. i was going to carpool, but decided not to 'cause 1. it made me get out of bed in the morning and 2. i wanted to drive by this house everyday. it was a highlight of my week. i know i'm a nerd.
on the last day the parents came for the last hour and all the kids performed a skit in there different groups. really cute. i'm so glad george was able to go do this. now mason is excited for his turn next year to go with him.

Another Year Older, Another Year Wiser

It was jeremy's birthday yesterday.
He turned 32, yippee.
To bad he had to work and it wasn't a holiday to take off.
He loves his mint chocolate chip ice cream from Baskin Robbins. it's his all time favorite. But after work.....

we went and saw the new harry potter. Oh so good. we all loved it. this was the first time i didn't go back and reread the book before seeing the movie.
but it was kinda nice this way, because then i wasn't thinking about all that they left out from the book the whole time.it's been a couple years since i read the book and i really forgot a lot. but that's ok, the movie was great. a must see.

So happy birthday to jeremy, we love you!!

Itch to Stitch

So I've had this urge to sew something lately, but it's kinda hard when your moving and your sewing machine is still in a box. Well a couple weeks ago in Wenatchee my sister Marnie mentioned she wanted to make a purse. "No way, me too!!" I just hadn't found a pattern that I really liked yet. Well going through my mom's magazines, I found a cute purse in Martha Stewart's Living magazine, it had a picture of the purse and of the pattern and the website to go to to get it. I thought maybe it would be a free download, 'cause that happens sometimes, well it wasn't free. So I decided to free hand the pattern myself, easy enough right? It was an easy pattern, but putting it together we weren't sure about. Well after a couple hours, and with Preston's help, we came up with this:

Not so bad, right? The next one I want to make a little longer. I like the width though. I've never made a purse or a purse with lining for that matter. It was fun. Marnie and I had a good time. Her purse you can see in an earlier post, 4th of July, it's on her shoulder made of a red and white flower print, very cute.

A few weeks ago I discoverd a new sewing website. It's http://www.modabakeshop.com/ . It has the funnest and cutest ideas. Step by step instructions with lots of pictures. If you like to sew you have to check it out. I don't know how it took me so long to find it. I love, love moda fabrics, they're my all time favorite.

I'm hoping this summer I can get some fun projects done. I just need to set up my sewing machine and get at it.

Seattle* Family* Fun

Gpa Mark, Gma Paula and Austin came to visit for a couple days this week. We jammed in as much as we could in the 2 days and had a great time.

So off to the Space Needle we went on the first day. We all went up except for George and Jeremy. George really, really didn't want to go, so we didn't make him and Jeremy stayed behind with him.

The rest of us went up to see the amazing views.

A little windy oh way up there in the sky.

I wish it could have been a little clearer, but oh well, what else do you expect from Seattle weather. It was good just not great.

For lunch we went to the famous Crab Pot for some delicious seafood at pier 57.

Celebrating an early birthday for Jeremy. (next week he turns 32 on the 15th)

And this is what we got:

Heaven dumped right in the middle of our table for all the share. We got crab legs, shrimp (with legs and eyes, not so thrilled about that part) sausage, mussels, clams, potatoes and corn.

With our mallets, boards and bibs we were ready to dig in.

We almost finished it all. A little messy, but worth it. Not a great place to go on a first date. It would be hard to make a good first impression when your stuffing your face eating with your hands.

Then off to Deception Pass for the 2nd day of touring. We had great weather this time. We got to show our guests that we really do have good days too.

Cute family pics.

Father and son walking their dogs.

After the beach we went to a state park that use to be an army base, Fort Casey, on Whidbey Island.
I think it's from WWI, that was used to help keep the base in Bremerton safe. But never did get used, 'cause we never were invaded. (I hope that's the right story.)

We got to explore lots of nooks and crannies, some were a little creepy. Dark tunnels and rooms and staircases that led to more pitch black rooms.

On the other side is grass that leads down to the beach. The enemy would never know this was here except maybe for the cannons sticking out.

We explored all over and had a great time. Wow what a place. It's pretty cool they made it into a park. You just come and go and explore as you want. Definitely a place we'll be back to.
Then off to the Ferry to head back home.

A busy couple of days, but we had a great time.

the 4th was a blast

marnie and austin came over for the 4th and we had a good time. austin was too excited about the fireworks that we got to buy from the indian reservation. he and george pooled their money and bought a pack with an assortment of stuff, mj and mason got a backpack full of stuff, plus bottle rockets and firecrackers. here in marysville pretty much nothing is illegal, why, i have no idea, so we saw and did stuff we've never done before and had a great time, especially the boys.
boom city.... enter at your own risk. and they're not kidding. the fireworks were loud and big.

there first attempt at letting some off. they were so excited they couldn't wait.

this is all back at home at the entrance to our complex:
fireworks aren't aloud inside where all the townhomes are, so everyone went out to the entrance to let them off.

after this weekend i've learned i'm not a fan of bottle rockets. ya just never know where they're going to go. we got to let the fireworks off on the 3rd and the 4th. and between all of ours and everyone elses that came out to do theirs we were out for 1 hour on the 3rd and at least 3 hours lighting and watching them on the night of the 4th. it was a crazy night, especially watching everyone else do there's. was not the safest place to be, but no one seemed to care, except marnie and i. when the fireworks started landing on us, we kept moving back farther and farther until we gave up and went home. it was getting a little dangerous. i have no idea how there wasn't a fire, we are surrounded by trees and all the fireworks kept going in them. miracle.
we had fun at the beach too:

it was a very fun weekend to have marnie and austin with us to celebrate. happy 4th!!!
