This is our local Post Office.
I think the perfect word to describe it
is Quaint.
It's just a mile down the road.
You would think we lived in the sticks just by looking at this picture.
And well in some ways we do.
But that's the best part,
We have the best of both worlds, country living,
yet close to town and shopping and even the big city.
I love going to this Post Office.
The Postmaster is the nicest man.
and it's never busy.
The picture on the side of the building is of a woman hanging the mail next to the railroad,
That's how they used to deliver mail way back when, I guess.
The railroad tracks are just 20 yards away.
And when the train used to stop there, it was called English Crossing,
which is where they got the name of the boys' school.
So this Post office has been around for quite some time.
So the last time I was in there,
( I mail packages for Jeremy's store all the time for him)
I noticed a picture with a caption that said:
"OLD POSTMASTERS NEVER DIE.........
THEY JUST LOSE THEIR ZIP."
It was typed just the way my grandma types her family letters,
using an old typewriter and all in caps.
And I thought of her, and I thought of my Grandpa.
Well, my Grandpa used to be a Postmaster in Wenatchee.
So it hit home.
I had to write it down so I wouldn't forget.
I knew my grandma would enjoy that cute little saying.
